Living CALLED

What are some things that pop into your head when you hear someone say that they are "Living CALLED"? Many peoples' first thought is that it has to do with being in full time ministry or as an international missionary.  I have heard Christians get in debates over whether American's should do foreign missions or stay home and serve. Side note:I have much to say on this (big surprise I know!) and you can find that blog post here: Missions: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Living CALLED has nothing to do with our location or circumstance, but everything to do with obedience and knowing our identity as a Christ-follower.

No matter where our feet are walking literally each day, we are called our of darkness, we chose to repent and accept the love of Christ that He poured out in the atonement of our sin on the cross and we were made new in Him. Here a few verses that just scratch the surface of what our new life should like.

1. Understand Our Identity

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;"

2. Live Holy Lives

Holiness is simply without sin. God is holy; without sin. This verse is telling us to live holy lives as God is holy. Not out of earning our way to heaven, but out of our identity as a Christ-follower made in the likeness (holiness) of God.

Psalm 96: 3 "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!"

When we come to know God in a righteous relationship with Him, we can't help but to declare all that He has done for us.

2 Timothy 1:9 "He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began."

When we become a Christ-follower we have given the Holy Spirit permission to guide us wherever God wants us to go, speak to who He wants us to speak to, and do what He wants us to do.

There are many verses in the bible that talk about evangelistic mission trips as well as house churches and communities.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed. The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.

Luke 4:18 | ESV

1. Go Into The World

Psalm 96: 3 "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!"

Mark 16:15 "And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”

2. Live a Gospel Life

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35 | ESV

14 He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:14 NLT

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. John 15:8 | ESV

Romans 10:12-15

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"

3. Share The Good News That Saves

Psalm 9:1 NLT "I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done."

1 Chronicles 16: 23-24 (ESV)

23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
24 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!

1 Chronicles 16:23-24 (NLT)

23 Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
24 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.
